About conference

Conference «Improving Financial Literacy and Financial Inclusion: The Role of Financial Sector in Implementation of The National Strategy» is aimed at bringing together financial market participants and raising awareness in matters of financial inclusion, financial literacy and consumer protection in order to ensure sustainable development of the sector and to improve the regulation of the financial market as well as the availability and quality of financial services for the population.

Conference is organized by the Russian Microfinance Center, National Partnership of Microfinance Market Stakeholders and Citi Foundation.

Тhe program of this event is based on the results of the first international conference on financial literacy and inclusion  «The Role of Financial Literacy in Increasing Access to Financial Services: Approaches and Practical Solutions for Financial Institutions,» which was held in Moscow on 10-11 February 2015 and received a positive response from the financial industry and the expert community. The conference was supported by the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. Many financial institutions expressed interest in developing financial literacy programs for clients as well as implementing tools and products, which could contribute to responsible finance. However, their enthusiasm is often hindered by a lack of educational information, including examples of successful experience, which is still little known in the market. Through the Conference a unique platform for knowledge-exchange and peer learning in the area of financial literacy and financial inclusion was created. In addition, thanks to the event an open discussion with the participation of financial institutions, government regulators and public organizations for consumer rights protection was made possible.

The Second Conference will highlight the important role of financial institutions in the successful implementation of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy, a draft of which will be presented for discussion. Besides, the Conference aims to discuss, and promote practical solutions such as financial education and financial inclusion programs and projects that are being conducted by financial institutions. Finally, the Conference will offer the participants to discuss a preliminary draft of the common ethical standards, which would define participation of the financial industry in the financial literacy programs.
